PRAYER UNION – TRANS-NZOIA COUNTY, KENYA

LAUNCH VISION & MANDATE

“From the Altar to Every Town, Community and Village — and from Trans-Nzoia to the Nations.”

1. THE CALL

Prayer Union – Trans-Nzoia County is being established as a county-wide expression of a larger call to recover the altar, build the watch, carry the burden, and take prayer into mission.

The purpose is to see the Church in Trans-Nzoia awakened to prayer—not merely as an activity of the Church, but as a way of life, a spiritual responsibility and a foundation for mission.

This is a call to pastors, churches, intercessors, prayer leaders, families, young people and believers across the county to come together before God.

The burden is simple:

That Trans-Nzoia would become a praying county.

That prayer would rise from churches and homes, from towns and villages, from farms and marketplaces, from schools and communities.

That the altar would be restored.

That watchmen would arise.

That the Church would carry the spiritual burden of the county.

And that prayer would become the pathway into mission.

2. THE VISION

To see Trans-Nzoia become a united, praying county where the Church stands together before God, every community is covered in prayer, the next generation is raised as intercessors, and prayer becomes the foundation for Gospel mission throughout the county and beyond.

The vision is not to create another denomination, church or competing ministry.

It is to serve the Church by strengthening the ministry of prayer.

Prayer Union will seek to bring together the prayer burden already present within the Body of Christ and help connect it into a wider county-wide prayer movement.

3. THE MISSION

Prayer Union – Trans-Nzoia County exists to:

Recover the altar.
Build the watch.
Carry the burden.
Mobilise the Church.
Reach every community.
Raise the next generation.
And send prayer into mission.

The movement will encourage prayer that moves:

from the church building to the community,
from the community to the county,
from the county to the nation,
and from the nation to the nations.

4. THE TRANS-NZOIA PRAYER FIELD

Trans-Nzoia is centred around Kitale and lies between the Nzoia River and Mount Elgon, bordering several Kenyan counties as well as Uganda. It is predominantly agricultural and is known for its important contribution to Kenya’s food production.

The county’s administrative structure provides a natural framework for a county-wide prayer movement.

The five prayer regions:

1. KIMININI
6 wards

2. SABOTI
5 wards

3. CHERANG’ANY
7 wards

4. ENDEBESS
3 wards

5. KWANZA
4 wards

Together these comprise the county’s 25 wards.

The wider administrative structure extends to 39 locations, 63 sub-locations and 1,610 villages, giving Prayer Union a compelling field of prayer extending far beyond the major towns.

Therefore:

Five sub-counties.
Twenty-five wards.
Every location.
Every sub-location.
Every village.
One prayer burden.

5. THE FOURFOLD MANDATE

A. RECOVER THE ALTAR

The first mandate is to restore prayer to its rightful place in the life of God’s people.

Prayer Union will encourage:

Personal prayer.
Family altars.
Church prayer meetings.
Corporate intercession.
Fasting and prayer.
Night watches.
Prayer retreats.
Prayer gatherings across communities.

The objective is not simply to organise more meetings.

The objective is to raise praying people.

B. BUILD THE WATCH

The second mandate is to establish a network of intercessors who will faithfully stand before God for Trans-Nzoia.

Prayer Union will encourage the formation of:

County prayer leadership.
Sub-county prayer teams.
Ward prayer networks.
Local prayer groups.
Church-based intercessory teams.
Prayer watchmen and women.
Youth and children’s prayer initiatives.

The watch is intended to become distributed, relational and sustainable.

Prayer should not depend upon one personality, one church or one annual event.

The watch must continue.

C. CARRY THE BURDEN

The third mandate is intercession for the spiritual, social and generational wellbeing of the county.

Prayer will cover:

The Church

Pastors and ministers.
Church unity.
Spiritual leadership.
Evangelism.
Discipleship.
Revival and spiritual awakening.

Families

Marriages.
Parents.
Children.
Household salvation.
Restoration and reconciliation.

The next generation

Children.
Students.
Young adults.
Schools.
Calling and purpose.
Protection from destructive influences.

Communities

Villages.
Marketplaces.
Farms.
Businesses.
Institutions.
Vulnerable people.

The county

Peace.
Justice.
Integrity.
Good governance.
Economic wellbeing.
Agriculture.
Education.
Health.
Social transformation.

Prayer Union will pray with love for the county and its people, refusing to separate spiritual intercession from genuine concern for the community.

6. PRAYER INTO MISSION

The fourth mandate is to ensure that prayer does not end at the prayer meeting.

Prayer must become mission.

Where prayer discovers a community, the Church should be willing to go there.

Where prayer reveals a need, the Church should ask how it can serve.

Where prayer opens a door, the Gospel should be carried through it.

Therefore Prayer Union will encourage a pattern of:

PRAY → DISCERN → GO → SERVE → PROCLAIM → DISCIPLE → PRAY AGAIN

The altar becomes the birthplace of mission.

7. A COUNTY-WIDE PRAYER NETWORK

The proposed structure is designed to serve—not control—the Church.

COUNTY LEVEL

Prayer Union – Trans-Nzoia County

A county prayer leadership team will provide vision, coordination, communication and spiritual oversight.

SUB-COUNTY LEVEL

Five prayer regions:

Kiminini
Saboti
Cherang’any
Endebess
Kwanza

Each region will develop a prayer coordination team.

WARD LEVEL

Each of the 25 wards will be encouraged to develop a prayer network connecting churches and intercessors.

COMMUNITY LEVEL

Prayer groups will be encouraged at:

Village level.
Local church level.
Home level.
School/community level where appropriate.

THE PRINCIPLE

County → Sub-county → Ward → Community → Home

The movement should be built from the grassroots upward, rather than imposed from the top downward.

8. THE PRAYER WATCH

Prayer Union will develop a continuing Trans-Nzoia Prayer Watch.

The purpose is to encourage churches and prayer groups to take responsibility for different times, places and burdens so that prayer becomes continuous rather than occasional.

The watch may include:

Morning prayer.
Midday prayer.
Evening prayer.
Night watches.
Weekly prayer gatherings.
Monthly county prayer gatherings.
Seasonal fasting and prayer.
Annual county-wide prayer assemblies.

The goal is:

A prayer rhythm that continues beyond the launch.

9. THE COUNTY PRAYER GATHERING

An important expression of the movement will be a regular gathering bringing together pastors, churches, intercessors and prayer servants from across Trans-Nzoia.

This gathering should become a place for:

Worship.
Repentance.
Intercession.
Unity.
Listening to God.
Encouragement.
Mission.

It should not become a platform for personalities.

It should become an altar for the county.

10. THE NEXT GENERATION

A central part of the mandate is to raise young people who understand prayer as both relationship with God and responsibility for their generation.

Prayer Union will therefore encourage:

Youth prayer gatherings.
Student prayer initiatives.
Children’s prayer.
Mentoring of young intercessors.
Training in biblical prayer.
Worship and prayer gatherings.
Opportunities for young people to serve in mission.

The vision:

Not simply to leave a prayer movement to the next generation, but to raise the next generation inside the prayer movement.

11. UNITY OF THE BODY OF CHRIST

Prayer Union will seek to honour the diversity of churches and traditions represented throughout Trans-Nzoia.

The movement will not seek to erase legitimate differences.

Instead, it will identify the place where believers can stand together:

**Jesus Christ.

The Word of God.
Prayer.
The Gospel.
The mission of God.**

Prayer Union will therefore encourage pastors and churches to pray together without requiring uniformity in everything else.

**Different churches.

Different traditions.
Different communities.
One Lord.
One Gospel.
One prayer burden.**

12. THE LAUNCH MANDATE

The launch of Prayer Union – Trans-Nzoia County should therefore begin with prayer before structure.

The initial season should focus on five movements:

1. GATHER

Gather pastors, prayer leaders, intercessors and churches around the burden.

2. CONSECRATE

Set the movement apart to God through worship, repentance, fasting and prayer.

3. MAP

Identify prayer leaders and prayer communities across the five sub-counties and 25 wards.

4. MOBILISE

Begin establishing local prayer groups, watches and intercessory networks.

5. COMMISSION

Send the movement into every community with a mandate to pray, serve and proclaim Christ.

13. THE FIRST PHASE

THE FIRST 12 MONTHS: ESTABLISH THE WATCH

The first year should concentrate on establishing a healthy foundation.

Months 1–3 — CONSECRATION

County launch gathering.
Pastoral consultations.
Prayer leader consultations.
Fasting and prayer.
Establish county prayer leadership.
Introduce the vision to churches.

Months 4–6 — MOBILISATION

Establish five sub-county prayer teams.
Begin connecting ward-level prayer leaders.
Develop prayer groups.
Establish regular prayer watches.
Begin youth prayer initiatives.

Months 7–9 — COVERAGE

Focus on the 25 wards.
Identify uncovered communities.
Conduct community prayer missions.
Strengthen local prayer leaders.
Develop prayer resources.

Months 10–12 — GATHERING & COMMISSIONING

County-wide thanksgiving and prayer gathering.
Review the first year.
Strengthen the prayer network.
Commission new leaders.
Establish the next year’s county prayer priorities.

14. THE CULTURE WE WANT TO BUILD

Prayer Union – Trans-Nzoia must deliberately cultivate a culture of:

PRAYER

We pray before we act.

UNITY

We stand together without demanding uniformity.

HUMILITY

No individual owns the movement.

HOLINESS

The altar must be accompanied by surrendered lives.

MISSION

Prayer always moves us toward God’s purposes.

GENEROSITY

We serve communities rather than merely gather people.

MULTIPLICATION

Every prayer leader raises another prayer leader.

FAITHFULNESS

We value the quiet, continual work of prayer as much as public gatherings.

15. WHAT SUCCESS WILL LOOK LIKE

The success of Prayer Union will not primarily be measured by the size of its events.

Success will be seen when:

More homes become places of prayer.
Churches rediscover corporate prayer.
Pastors pray together.
Intercessors are connected.
Every sub-county has an active prayer network.
Every ward has prayer representation.
Villages are intentionally covered in prayer.
Young people become prayer leaders.
Prayer produces practical mission.
Churches cooperate for the spiritual good of the county.
A sustained prayer culture develops across Trans-Nzoia.

The ultimate measure:

Is the Church praying?
Is the Church united?
Is the Church carrying the burden?
Is the Church going?

16. THE FOUNDING DECLARATION

WE DECLARE

That Trans-Nzoia belongs to the Lord.

That the Church is called to stand in the gap.

That the altar must be restored.

That the watchmen must arise.

That prayer must return to the centre of Christian life and mission.

That every sub-county matters.

That every ward matters.

That every community matters.

That every village matters.

That every family matters.

That every generation matters.

We therefore commit ourselves to pray for Trans-Nzoia.

We commit ourselves to seek God for revival.

We commit ourselves to stand for unity in the Body of Christ.

We commit ourselves to raise prayer in the next generation.

We commit ourselves to carry the Gospel beyond the church walls.

We commit ourselves to serve our communities.

And we commit ourselves to take the burden of prayer from the altar to every town, community and village.

17. THE MANDATE IN ONE SENTENCE

Prayer Union – Trans-Nzoia County exists to raise a united praying Church that will recover the altar, build the watch, carry the burden, reach every community and send the Gospel from Trans-Nzoia to Kenya and the nations.

18. THE LAUNCH CRY

TRANS-NZOIA, ARISE AND PRAY!

From Kiminini to Saboti.
From Cherang’any to Endebess.
From Kwanza to Kitale.
From every ward to every village.
From every home to every community.
