WHO WE ARE
A Movement of Worshipping Watchmen
Prayer Union is a movement of believers awakened to seek God together, stand in the gap, carry His burden, and respond to His call.
We are a movement of worshipping watchmen—believers who return to the altar, take their place on the wall, prevail in prayer, and go where God sends them.
Our calling can be expressed simply:
PRAYER • WATCH • PREVAIL • GO
Our mission is equally clear:
PRAY • EQUIP • MOBILIZE • GO
We believe prayer and mission belong together. We pray because God is worthy, we watch because His purposes matter, we prevail because the work requires persistence, and we go because the Gospel must reach the harvest.
Prayer Union is a movement calling believers back to the biblical practice of united, persistent and prevailing prayer.
We believe prayer is not merely an individual discipline. Throughout Scripture, God’s people gathered together to seek Him, carry burdens, watch, intercede and persevere until His purposes were accomplished.
Prayer Union exists to help recover this biblical pattern and make it accessible to churches, communities, leaders and believers across nations and generations.

OUR STORY
A BURDEN RECEIVED. A LEGACY RECOVERED. A MOVEMENT CONTINUED.
The Prayer Union story is rooted in a heritage of believers who discovered the power of united and prevailing prayer.
The story is particularly connected with the historic prayer movements associated with Punjab and Sialkot, where believers gathered to seek God with extraordinary persistence and burden for revival, the Church and the nations.
Among the figures associated with this heritage is John Nelson Hyde, remembered for his life of intercession and missionary service in Punjab. His example has continued to inspire generations of Christians to take prayer seriously as a ministry and calling.
The Prayer Union tradition is not simply a story to remember. It is a spiritual responsibility to carry forward.
The challenge before us is therefore:
What we have received must not end with us. It must be faithfully passed to the next generation.
Prayer Union seeks to recover the principles behind this heritage and make them available to a new generation of praying believers.
Our journey is:
Receive the Burden → Recover the Altar → Become the Watchman → Recover the Principles → Build the Prayer Union → Carry It to the Nations.

Our vision is to see Prayer Unions established, strengthened and multiplied among churches, communities and nations.
We envision a generation of believers who:

- Carry God’s burdens for people and nations.
- Stand faithfully as spiritual watchmen.
- Pray together across denominational and cultural boundaries.
- Equip the next generation.
- Connect prayer with mission.
- Multiply prayer movements from one place to another.
We see Prayer Union becoming a growing network of praying communities—from local churches and small groups to cities, nations and international prayer movements.

OUR MISSION
TO RECOVER, EQUIP, CONNECT AND MULTIPLY PRAYING PEOPLE
Prayer Union exists to:
1. RECOVER
Recover the biblical principles of united, persistent and prevailing prayer.
2. EQUIP
Train believers, prayer leaders and Watchmen in biblical prayer and spiritual formation.
3. CONNECT
Connect Prayer Unions, prayer leaders and praying communities across cities and nations.
4. MOBILIZE
Mobilize believers to pray for revival, the Church, communities, nations and the fulfillment of God’s mission.
5. MULTIPLY
Help established Prayer Unions reproduce themselves by raising and equipping the next generation.
6. SEND
Help transform prayer into obedient participation in God’s mission among the nations.

OUR BIBLICAL FOUNDATION
PRAYER IS A CALLING, A MINISTRY AND A RESPONSIBILITY
Prayer Union is founded on the conviction that prayer is central to the life and mission of the people of God.
Scripture repeatedly shows God’s people gathering together in prayer.
UNITED PRAYER
“These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication.”
Acts 1:14
The early believers understood that united prayer was essential to the life and mission of the Church.
PERSISTENT PRAYER
“Men ought always to pray, and not to faint.”
Luke 18:1
Prayer requires perseverance. We do not abandon the burden simply because the answer has not yet appeared.
WATCHFUL PRAYER
“Watch ye therefore, and pray always.”
Luke 21:36
Prayer and watchfulness belong together. The Watchman listens to God, discerns the times and faithfully intercedes.
UNITED SEEKING
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray…”
2 Chronicles 7:14
God’s people are called to humble themselves and seek Him together.
PRAYER AND MISSION
Jesus commanded His disciples:
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…”
Matthew 28:19
Prayer does not replace mission. Prayer prepares the way; obedience takes the step.
PASSING IT ON
“The same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”
2 Timothy 2:2
The spiritual burden must be deliberately entrusted to future generations.
OUR HERITAGE
FROM PUNJAB TO THE NATIONS
Prayer Union recognizes a rich heritage of prayer and intercession associated with Punjab, Sialkot and the wider missionary movement in South Asia.
We honor those who gave themselves to prayer, revival, evangelization and the strengthening of the Church.
Among the figures whose lives have become part of this prayer heritage is John Nelson Hyde, whose ministry in Punjab became closely associated with extraordinary commitment to intercessory prayer.
We also recognize the wider generations of prayer leaders and communities who carried these principles forward.
But heritage is more than history.
Heritage creates responsibility.
We therefore seek not merely to preserve stories about the past, but to recover the principles that can help the Church pray faithfully today.
Our desire is to see the legacy move:

We believe this is a time to return to the altar.
A time to recover the burden.
A time to become watchmen.

Therefore, Prayer Union invites churches, prayer groups, leaders, Watchmen and believers everywhere to join this journey.
