The Prevailing Prayer Seminar is a practical and biblical journey designed to help a new generation rediscover the ministry of united, persistent and prevailing prayer.
It is rooted in the conviction that prayer is not merely preparation for ministry—prayer is ministry.
The seminar draws from the heritage of Prayer Union and seeks to translate its enduring principles into a practical framework for churches, prayer groups, leaders, Watchmen and believers who desire to build a sustainable culture of prayer.
We are not simply looking back at what previous generations did.
We are asking:
What can we recover, practice and pass on today?
The journey moves from receiving the burden to carrying it, from recovering the altar to becoming a Watchman, from building Prayer Unions to carrying the burden into mission.

THE SIX-SESSION JOURNEY
SESSION 1 — RECEIVE THE BURDEN
Learning to recognize and carry God’s burden
Every Prayer Union begins with a burden.
Before we organize a prayer meeting, we must learn to listen to God.
A spiritual burden is more than concern about a problem. It is a deepening awareness of something that matters to God and an invitation to bring it before Him.

The Watchman does not manufacture the burden.

SESSION 2 — RECOVER THE ALTAR
Returning to surrender, worship and prayer
Before God builds a movement through us, He wants to work in us.
The altar represents surrender, worship, repentance, consecration and obedience.
Prayer Union begins not with activity but with relationship with God.
“Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

- The biblical meaning of the altar.
- Prayer as relationship with God.

Key principle
WE CANNOT BUILD A PUBLIC ALTAR WITHOUT FIRST RECOVERING THE PERSONAL ALTAR.
The Prayer Union is strengthened by people who have learned to meet God privately.

SESSION 3 — BECOME THE WATCHMAN
Standing before God on behalf of others
The Watchman is called to watch, listen, discern and pray.
“I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night.”
— Isaiah 62:6
The Watchman stands between God and the circumstances of people, communities and nations—not as a substitute for God, but as one who faithfully responds to what God reveals.

SESSION 4 — RECOVER THE PRINCIPLES
Learning the principles that make prayer prevailing
Prayer is not merely about praying longer.
It is about learning to pray biblically, faithfully and persistently.
The Prayer Union heritage provides principles that help believers move from occasional prayer to a sustainable culture of prevailing prayer.

Learning to agree together before God.

Refusing to faint when answers are delayed.

SESSION 5 — BUILD THE PRAYER UNION
Turning individual prayer into a praying community
A Prayer Union is more than a weekly meeting.
It is a community of believers who commit themselves to united, disciplined, persistent and prevailing prayer.
Jesus said:
“Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

The early Church demonstrated this pattern by continuing together in prayer.

From prayer to mission
Prayer is not the destination.
Prayer prepares us for obedience.
Jesus taught His disciples to pray for laborers and then sent them into the harvest.
“Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”

The final session connects Prayer Union with mission.
We pray because God loves the nations.
We watch because God has purposes for the nations.
We prevail because the Gospel must advance.
And we go because prayer must eventually become obedience.
